NRA Convention Will Close Several Downtown Dallas Streets

DALLAS, TX – The National Rifle Association Convention will result in several road closures in the downtown Dallas area, police said. The convention started Thursday at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center and ends on Sunday, May 6.

The convention is expecting about 80,000 attendees during the four-day event. The Dallas Police Department also is expecting numerous protests.

On Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m, Young Street between Ervay Street and Griffin Street will be closed and South Akard Street between Canton Street and Young Street will also be closed during the same time period. Additional roads may be closed as needed.

The department expects there will also be temporary road closures throughout downtown on Friday due to the arrival of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Police say expect delays if you are travelling through downtown this weekend and seek alternate routes during the times listed.
